2010 Miss Evergreen Rodeo

Howdy rodeo
lovers! My name is Kari Peterson and I am honored to be your Evergreen
Rodeo Queen for 2010. Although I was born in California, I have always
been a country girl at heart. My family moved to Littleton, Colorado
when I was a year old and I went on my first cattle drive at age four.
As a young cowgirl, I was a proud fan of rodeo but was also interested
in fishing, hockey, and go-cart racing. My dad took me racing at Bandimere
Speedway as a child and I fell in love with going fast.
I was four years
old on that first ride, and my passion grew quickly. I joined Westernaires
when I was nine years old; a non-profit organization located in Golden,
Colorado that teaches young people ages 9-18 precision mounted drill
riding skills. When I graduated I was 1st Lieutenant of the top dressage
team and also a member of one of the top red division teams, Precisionettes.
From there I joined a group of Westernaire alumni who perform annually
at the Evergreen Rodeo. With this exposure to The Evergreen Rodeo I
knew I wanted to be more involved with this excellent organization.
I am a senior at
Colorado State University in Fort Collins, set to graduate in May of
2010. Currently majoring in equine science with a minor in English,
I have focused my studies on animal husbandry and certified in artificial
insemination. I hope to one day work with stock contractors, breeding
bucking bulls and horses.
Rodeo is a sport
that I am proud to promote, because of its effect on those involved.
I remember my first experience with horses so it is exciting to see
the same starry eyed look on little cowboys and cowgirls when they go
to the rodeo for the first time. It is an event that people can experience
for themselves, the western way of life, and appreciate it for the history
it is rooted in.
The Evergreen Rodeo
has been a family event since 1967, and today it is a part of the professional
rodeo circuit. Every Father’s Day it succeeds in overflowing the
stands with a devoted audience. So if you’re looking for something
to get your adrenaline pumping, join us June 18-20 for a weekend full
of tight turns, crazy cowboys, and buckin’ broncs! I guarantee
you won’t ever forget seeing the toughest sport on dirt, rodeo!

Katie White - 2010 Evergreen Rodeo Princess

Hello my name is Katie White, I am proud to be your 2010 Evergreen Rodeo
Princess! I am currently a senior at Conifer High School. I was born
in Texas but have lived in Evergreen since I was five. As residents
of the Evergreen/Conifer communities, my family attended the Evergreen
Rodeo every year. I had always wanted to be a part of the rodeo. I played
many sports growing up but my main interest was softball.
At the age of 12
my family went on a vacation to a dude ranch. It was then I realized
my true passion for horses. When we returned home I found an opportunity
to ride horses at Bobkat Ranch, a local riding stable and training facility
in Evergreen. It wasn't long before I was working there, eager to save
for a horse of my own.
In 2008 I was well
on my way when I purchased my first horse at an auction during The National
Western Stock Show. Zip is an amazing paint horse which has been the
biggest blessing of my life. He was barely green broke when I got him
and have since done most of the training myself. Zip and I participate
in many horse shows and have done quite well. We have excelled as a
team. Zip even helped me achieve my dream this year of winning the title
of Evergreen Rodeo Princess.
After high school
I will attend North Eastern Junior College to begin my studies in Equine
Management and continue to learn about this incredible way of life.
As a proud member
of the Evergreen Rodeo Association and the Evergreen Rodeo Princess
I am blessed with the opportunity to promote the Evergreen Rodeo and
visit other rodeos across the state. I look forward to meeting young
cowgirls and cowboys along the way and influencing them. I love the
sport of rodeo and can’t wait to share the toughest sport on dirt
with others. My horse and I are a dedicated team that will do whatever
it takes to serve the PRCA. Come out and witness this amazing sport
for yourself. Hope to see you there!
